Manzanita Entrance SignManzanita on the Ocean is a beachy little village, just off the main highway, two miles north of Nehalem Point. A place for sunning, surfing and watching the sea. Serious windsurfers and ocean kayakers recommend this beach for wonderful waves and occasional brisk wind. It's also the home of North Tillamook's famous library which is there thanks to the efforts of all three communities of the Nehalem Bay area. The public-spirited citizens raised the money, built the fine building, endowed a maintenance fund and volunteer as librarians or landscapers.

While you're touring Manzanita wander into the ice cream and candy store, or shop the biggest little mall on Main Street. You can get money from the ATM, buy books and fresh seafood, rent videos and beach bikes, buy art or antiques or lumber. And eat. This seaside village claims some of the finest restaurants on the coast. Treat yourself to dinner at Jarboe's or Blue Sky. Amazingly good, creative food. For casual meals, you'll have good choices for pizza at Cassandra's, hamburgers at the Sandune Tavern, and Mexican food at Left Coast Siesta. For picnics, there's great take-out at the Manzanita Grocery and Deli. Plus the Wave and the Fireside. As with all three communities, you can spend an hour or days here and your spirit will be soothed and refreshed.
